Ford Helps Found Climate Forum with TED
TED’s annual global climate conference, TED Countdown, will be taking place this year in Ford Motor Company’s hometown of Detroit, Michigan from July 11th to July 14th. Ford will be participating this year in the inaugural gathering of TED’s Future Forum, where the forums thirteen founding companies, including Ford, will collaborate to examine the role of businesses in finding and promoting solutions to climate change.
The Countdown conference was launched by TED in 2019, the organization’s first event dedicated to one specific cause. In light of the drastic news in regards to climate change that the last several years have seen, championing this cause and encouraging ideas, innovations, and solutions for sustainability has become more and more crucial, leading to the creation of Countdown. This year, the conference will be a major event that brings together over 700 leaders in fields such as science, activism, innovation, business, finance, policy, and philanthropy.
The 2023 Countdown Summit will focus specifically on currently pressing challenges at the intersection of mobility and society, which makes Detroit a perfect place to host the event. Attendees will be able to watch TED Talks that discuss real-world sustainability solutions at scale, Breakthrough Sessions designed to explore tools and partnerships, and immersive offsite experiences with local innovators that will demonstrate Detroit’s efforts towards building an inclusive, sustainable future.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Countdown and the TED Future Forum to Detroit, where Ford is working to build the future of manufacturing and to revolutionize the way people move and connect,” said Cynthia Williams, global director of sustainability, homologation and compliance at Ford Motor Company. “People everywhere are looking to businesses like Ford for solutions and urgency in responding to climate change. We look forward to putting our minds and resources together – in what we believe will be a powerful collaboration – to help shape a future for transportation that’s more inclusive, equitable and sustainable.”
Ford, along with the other TED Future Forum Founding companies, will be working together on critical business-focused initiatives to give stakeholders a chance to collaborate on improving climate progress. As their work progresses, TED will work to tell the stories of successes and challenges at events and via TED platforms across the country, spreading inspiration to both individual businesses and the entire economy to make shifts towards a safer and more sustainable future.
