Ford Reveals Complimentary EV Chargers for California Businesses

In a move to streamline the integration of electric vehicles into commercial fleets, Ford Pro, the commercial arm of Ford Motor Company, is launching the Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle for businesses in California. Recognizing the complexities of managing electric vehicle (EV) fleets, this initiative aims to alleviate operational challenges and reduce both initial and ongoing charging expenses.

California, a prominent market for commercial fleets, will be the first to benefit from the Ford Pro Smart Charging Bundle. This innovative package provides businesses with a complimentary Ford Pro Level 2 EV charger, available in either 48-amp or 80-amp configurations, upon subscribing to Ford Pro Charging software. This software offers advanced energy management features, including automated responses to grid events, detailed reporting, and management of Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) carbon credits.

Transitioning to electric vehicles isn’t just a step towards sustainability; it’s also economically advantageous. The all-electric E-Transit™ van exemplifies this, with scheduled maintenance costs estimated to be 48 percent lower than those of its gasoline-powered counterpart, the 2024 Transit®1. Additionally, Ford Pro’s smart charging software enables businesses to optimize their charging schedules, charging during off-peak hours to benefit from lower utility rates.

Ford Pro’s Charging Software includes a new automated demand-to-grid response feature, which responds to high local demand in California by temporarily pausing charging. This helps prevent grid overloads and contributes to a more resilient power system. Businesses are promptly notified and charging resumes once the high-demand event concludes. Ford Pro also assists customers in enrolling in California’s grid demand response programs, energy management programs, and the LCFS carbon credits program.
